Cognitive Therapy and EMDR

Mission Statement

Desert Eagle Counseling Services aims to work with clients toward measurable and meaningful goals; while simultaneously fostering client independence. I work primarily with adult individuals suffering from stress, anxiety, panic and trauma.

One of the greatest opportunities for this process to take place is within the psychotherapy setting. A client and counselor working together form a vision of how quality of life can be significantly improved. Collectively working together and engaging in active psychotherapy empowers a client to move in a positive direction. The goal is to figure this process out efficiently so that improved quality of life can be experienced NOW; and the client feels the confidence to implement tools that improve daily life experiences.

About Dr. Jason Buck, LPC

My work in behavioral health began in 2001 when I started volunteering for my faith organization. Since then, I have worked with a variety of client issues including anxiety, depression, general stress from life and relationships, addictions, substance use, and serious mental illness. A large degree of my clinical exposure over the past several years included addressing a variety of general mental health needs.

What is the Process?

Assessment, diagnosis and treatment are essential components for effective psychotherapy.

1. During the assessment process, the client and clinician are getting a clear picture of what brings the client in for treatment at this time. Some common components of this are: family history of mental and emotional dynamics, review of current relationship dynamics, substance use history dynamics, etc.

2. Once a clear assessment of the presenting problem is complete, a diagnosis will be made. For example, if after assessment, it is clear that the main emotional stressor a client is experiencing is anxiety; an anxiety diagnosis is provided. Once the diagnosis is made, an appropriate course of treatment follows.

3. Treatment typically includes a period of psychotherapy sessions combined with the client working toward objectives between sessions. This “homework” is agreed upon in therapy and progress is reviewed and customized for the client between sessions. As a client successfully completes homework objectives, psychotherapy sessions are required less frequently.
